The HbA1c blood test is used to help diagnose and monitor patients with diabetes.  The HbA1c blood test indicates the amount of sugar that has been in your blood over a few months.  Patients with diabetes are recommended to have this blood test performed every 3-6 months to monitor how well their diabetes have been controlled over the previous months.
